COVID-19 Vaccine FAQs
Can staff be required to take the COVID-19 vaccine?
As a general rule, yes. Employers can require vaccinations as a condition of employment. Employees can request an exemption from such requirements for medical reasons or religious beliefs. Employers may be required to provide employees with certain reasonable alternative work accommodations.
Am I required to pay for vaccinations for staff?
No. Vaccine doses purchased with U.S. taxpayer dollars will be given to the American people at no cost. However, vaccination providers will be able to charge an administration fee for giving the shot to someone. Vaccine providers can get this fee reimbursed by the patient’s public or private insurance company or, for uninsured patients, by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Provider Relief Fund.
