IDA Addresses the Uncertainty of Leased Networks

Apr 8, 2024

Many dentists across Iowa have similar stories to what IDA President, Dr. Jim Larsen, shares in the video below. Dentists should not have to participate in dental insurance networks they never contracted with. The practice of network leasing creates confusion because you do not know what the fees and conditions of the third party dental insurer are. You should have total control over the dental insurance networks you are a part of.

IDA is working on legislation this session to give you control over the networks you join. This legislation will require dental insurers to notify you if they lease their networks to third party insurers and allow you to opt out.

Have you ever discovered you are a provider in a network you never contracted with? Have you had to work to no longer be a provider for an insurance you never signed up for? Send your stories to Josh Carpenter, IDA Government Affairs Director, to help him show legislators the negative impact network leasing had on you as a healthcare provider and small business.
