Governor Reynolds Appoints New Human Services Director

Governor Kim Reynolds recently appointed Kelly Kennedy Garcia, a top health official from Texas, to lead Iowa's human services department.
Garcia currently serves as a deputy executive commissioner for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission where she oversees health, development and independence services for the state. Garcia will begin the position on November 1, though her appointment is subject to approval from the Iowa Senate. Garcia replaces Jerry Foxhoven.
