Medicaid benefit cap delayed

$1000 Medicaid benefit cap delayed until September 1, 2018.

Through constructive dialogue and engagement, the IDA has recently worked closely with the State of Iowa in the pursuit of greater stability to the various dental benefits under the Medicaid program.

A new $1000 annual benefit cap similar to one already in place under the HAWK-i program was scheduled to be implemented on July 1, 2018 under both the fee for service and Dental Wellness Program. As a result of IDA's engagement with the State of Iowa, this proposed benefit cap has been delayed until September 1, 2018.

During this period of delay, Iowa Medicaid Enterprise and IDA will initiate a formal program improvement process for the purpose of identifying administrative inefficiencies and unnecessary cost.
