Welcome to the Iowa Dental Association

The Iowa Dental Association (IDA) is the premier professional association representing dentists in the state of Iowa. In existence since 1863, the IDA is home to over 1,800 Iowa dentists, which represents approximately 80% of the licensed dentists in the state.

All IDA member dentists are not only members of the IDA, but also the American Dental Association (ADA) and their local district society.

IDA’s mission is to encourage the improvement of the health of the public, to promote the art and science of dentistry, and to represent the interests of the members of the dental profession and the public which it serves.

FIND Intent to Apply Deadline June 1

The deadline to indicate the intention to apply for the Fulfilling Iowa's Need for Dentists (FIND) Project has been extended to June 1. This loan repayment program is open to all dentists in all Iowa counties (priority given to dentists practicing in designated shortage areas). Through FIND, dentists can receive education loan repayment of $125,000 to $200,000 over a five-year commitment period if they:
  • Allocate at least 35 percent of their patient visits to vulnerable populations, and
  • A minimum of 15 percent of those visits are Medicaid-enrolled patients.
Click here to read what past FIND recipients have to say about the program. For more information on FIND, visit their website or contact Sara Schlievert at 515.261.5660.
